The Bridge of Khazad-Dum

Writer's picture: Reid MontgomeryReid Montgomery

I was in the mines of Moria when I and the company had heard a loud bang “doom-boom doom-doom”. The orcs were trying to breach the wall of Mazardul. Only a few orcs had breached through, then suddenly there was Balrog, a creature I’ve never seen before.

Aragorn and Boromir slewed many, I shot two in the head, and Gimli slewed many in the legs. I had hopped on the back of this monstrous creature and it threw me at the wall, my bow snapped in half. I was helpless my bow was snapped. The beast had stabbed Frodo in the chest “The blow had caught him on the right, and Frodo was hurled against the wall and pinned.” Aragorn had leaped towards the cave troll, swept out the Anduril as it came down on his helm. The Balrog screamed in agony and fell to the ground with such great force it cracked the rock.

There was another loud doom-boom doom-doom. Gandalf shouted “Now is the chance. Run for it!” We ran towards the bridge Khazad-Dum, “the orcs are firing arrows!” I shouted. Aragorn and I shot towards them, I pierced their skulls, while Aragorn hit their feet. “The bridge is slowly breaking, near the base,” I shouted! The dwarf took priority over me, he shouted: “No one touches a dwarf!” Gandalf had held off the Balrog while we could escape I felt guilty for leaving him but, we needed to protect the barrier of the ring.

Gandalf slammed his staff on the ground, breaking the bridge below the Balrog’s feet. It fell but the Balrog used its whip and got ahold of Gandalfs knees to the brink of falling he screamed “Fly you, fools!” he cried as shouted. The fires went out and the darkness faded below our eyes. All of us heartbroken as we saw the Great Gandalf fall to his death. We had to stop Frodo from rushing over to the edge who was heartbroken.

We had started making our way towards the Elven forest of Lothlorien. While we were on our way Gimli, Sam, and Frodo had made gone to Mirrormere where shortly after they continue their way to Lothlorien after they treat Frodo’s and Sam’s wounds where apparently Frodo had a mithril vest.

Aragorn, Gandalf, Merry, Pippin, Legolas, Boromir, and I were walking through the forest in search of Lotherlorien and a split second later we had fifty arrows pointing towards our heads. Frodo, Sam, and Gimli were also captured by the Elves on their journey to find Lothlorien. After I settled the situation down with my wise words the Elves recognized one of their kind, Legolas was welcomed highly and was known by Haldir that he is the son of Thranduil. Haldir had sensed great evil from Frodo and would not allow the fellowship to go any further until we were told to follow Haldir after he took us to Caras Galadhon where we were introduced to Galadriel and Celeborn. Haldir said something about Galadriel about being the “eater of light” which made me afraid to go near her.
